Product Description

Precision laser cut large model railway control panel enclosures cut from from six pieces of MDF similar to our range of smaller control panels.  This larger version at a depth of 250mm is excellent to accomodate the larger or more intricate layouts and designs.  The base is made from 6mm MDF and sides from 4mm MDF.  Supplied flat packed but once assembled it is both smart and sturdy.

PVA wood glue or similar to assemble (not supplied).

The separate removable front panel is attached to the control panel using eight/ ten M3 screws (supplied). These screw into the brass M3 inserts in the body of the control panel (supplied and fitted).

These large control model railway control panels are available in the following two foot print sizes:-

600mm x 250mm option, Front panel face = 600mm x 255mm (47mm front face, 98mm rear face)

Wood engraving is carried out on a 3mm plywood front panel using a premier high definition laser machine. Your desired front panel layout should be sent to us as a jpg, png, cdr or pdf document. Your design will then be converted in to a vector drawing and we will send you a draft in pdf format to agree.  An example on of a custom panel being manufactured can be found at https://fb.watch/6aRkEar0rp/

Acrylic Panels 

Acrylic panels provide a smart and professional appearance.  The surface is wipable as the design is engraved into the rear surface of the panel. Holes can be cut in the panel to accomodate LEDs or switches.  The Brompton Grove control panel example has cut outs for toggle and rocker switches as well as Chrome LED bezels.

The Acrylic panel is made of a thick clear top layer and a thin white bottom layer which is engraved with the desired pattern.  We do not supply painted/ infilled front panels.  However, the engraving can be simply painted or infilled with different colour acrylic paints to highlight text or areas when viewed from the front. Various options in manufacture can be discussed such as a flush appearance where LEDs are either positioned beneath the Acrylic so they show through or the Acrylic cut to accomodate the head of the LED. Equally toggle switches can be mounted so that the fixing are beneath the panel as in the gallery image.
